These cool bags, quite literally, recycled. Items like blown-out inner tubes, old seatbelts and advertising banners are turned into useful products like bags and wallets. Another word for this is upcycling. Recycling turns stuff into the same thing over and over again. Upcycling turns something of lesser value into something of greater value.

These bags are waterproof and the durable rubber exterior won’t easily stain. These are amazing, strong bags that you will be proud to own.

The Process

Materials are gathered from bike shops and junk yards. Bike shops are cool enough to hook us up with used inner tubes that eventually become each bag’s exterior. Each inner tube has distinctive details, like patches, logos and various textures. These are left on so you can see that each bag is truly recycled and thus, unique.

To create the ultra-comfortable and totally durable strap, local junkyards are foraged in search of cars that no longer run but still have usable parts.

Inner Tubes

After they’re collected, the inner tubes are checked for holes. Any blemishes that affect quality, such as punctures or glue, are removed. The tubes are then cut open, washed and stitched together, creating the bag’s weatherproof shell.

Inner tubes are perfect for several reasons. First, they develop a finish over time that gives them the soft feeling of a fine Italian leather. Second, they’re 100% waterproof and virtually stain proof, so you can keep your stuff dry without worry any time of year.

Seat Belt Straps

Just like with inner tubes, each seatbelt is inspected for quality. They are cleaned, splayed open and integrated in to each bag’s design to form the strong, distinctive shoulder strap.. Some companies claim to be eco-friendly Klippan of Sweden actually walks the walk.

Ecologically produced cotton has been a common concept for many years, but ecological wool has been a rarity. The reason is that insects have been a challange with animals in wool production and until today it as been inconceivable to produce wool without any pesticides.

A group of farmers in Bank Peninsula, New Zeeland decided to address the difficulties of Eco sheep breeding. They have developed a process where they only treat the sheep with pesticide once, instead of repeatedly as had been practiced before. They give this treatment when the sheep is newborn which leads to no or negligeble amounts of pesticides in the finished wool as it grows. Additionally no cemicals are allowed to be used in the crops or in the food that the sheep eats and no antibiotiv is used during the breading process. A special washing method for the wool has been developed to again save the environment as much as possible. Finally, as a control over the entire process, an independent an accredited laboratory test approves each consignment of wool.

SkyRoll revolutionized travel when they introduced the world’s first roll-up garment bag. Because if you don’t fold your suits they don’t crease. The shape is also more compact and easier to carry than a traditional garment bag and saves you money on checked baggage fees.

Here’s how it works:

SkyRoll is a two-part system: a garment bag that wraps around a hollow cylinder. To pack, first remove the shoulder strap and place SkyRoll on a bed or other large flat surface.

Un-clip the 3 ending clips and unroll the garment bag. Next un-clip the 2 starting clips and detach the garment bag from the cylinder. Now you can pack each separately before rolling them back up.

Once you are finished packing the cylinder and garment bag, attach the garment bag to the cylinder with the two starting clips. Roll the garment bag tightly around the central cylinder and secure it with the three ending clips. Tighten the adjustable straps on the ending clips to keep the garment bag from moving while you travel.

Clip the shoulder strap back onto the “D”-rings at each end of the cylinder and you are ready to go. Because suits are rolled instead of folded, wrinkles are minimized. Perfect for short business trips or weekend getaways when you don’t have time to wait at baggage claim
